Spiel genial, Austattung mangelhaft

Ich kannte das alte Doomtown aus den 90ern, weshalb ich sofort Feuer und Flamme war. Das Spiel selber begeistert mich immer noch. Doomtown ist schnell und herausfordernd. Wer gerne Sammelkartenspiele oder Living Card Games spielt, sollte Doomtown Reloaded unbedingt ausprobieren. Zumal Doomtown eine echte Alternative zu dem Einheitsbrei aus Magic the Gathering, Hearthstone, Force of Will, YuGiOh uvm. bietet. Das große Manko ist der Inhalt der Box. Man könnte ein derart tolles Spiel schon mit etwas mehr Würde vertreiben. Im Gegensatz zu allen Erweiterungen des Spiels befinden sich NICHT 4 Kopien jeder Karte in der Box, sondern nur jeweils 2. Wenn man das Spiel richtig spielen möchte, müsste man also eine zweite Starterbox kaufen (oder gleich die völlig überteuerte Premium-Edition). Stattdessen befinden sich in der Box sogenannte Spielerhilfen, was quasi Bretter sind, die kaum hilfreich sind und zudem lieblos gestaltet. Diese Dinger braucht man nicht obwohl ich die Regeln wieder komplett neu lernen musste. Warum nicht mehr Karten in der Box sind oder irgendwas anderes nützliches. Ist mir schleierhaft. Dass bisher auch kein Zusatzset verfügbar ist, um sich die fehlenden Karten zu kaufen, ohne nochmal die gesamte Box (inklusive Anleitung und Spielbretter) kaufen zu müssen, ist mir ebenfalls schleierhaft. Zudem hat bei mir ein Joker gefehlt... Nichtsdestotrotz ein super Spiel. Und wer mit dem Ärgerniss klar kommt, der dürfte sich in einem der besten Western-Spiele sauwohl fühlen. Alle anderen nachfolgenden Produkte zu Doomtown Reloaded waren bisher nämlich spitze. Nur die Basis-Box sorgt für Kopfschütteln.Weiterlesen

I was a fan of the original Doomtown, so it was not hard to sell me on this "reload" of the original. Look, let me say this up front. If you are new to deep or complex games, Doomtown is going to be a challenging experience at first. You really have to stick with it for a few games until the rules set in. You will reach a point, however, where things like movement, adjacency, deed control, shootouts, and even "noon jobs" become second nature, and at that point you'll discover that you are in an incredibly immersive horror-flick-meets-spaghetti-western world with a brilliant, and I mean BRILLIANT system of combat, and strategic game-play. Remember those funky 3d puzzle images that were popular in the 90's --the ones you had to stare at? At first it was hard to understand what you were looking at, but then all of a sudden "whoosh!!" you see this rich 3d object appear in front of you... That's what this game is like. I remember having that "whoosh" moment several games in, and I have never looked back. It takes some energy to learn, but I don't hesitate to give this five stars because the payoff is SOOOO good. This is a super-rich, dripping-with-theme, incredibly overlooked game that deserves a standing ovation, and all the player support we can muster. Religiously yours... A Doomtown Fanatic.Weiterlesen

Fantastic game of shootout, poker and wacky wild west.

An absolutely fantastic and very deep game. This of course means that there are a lot of rules compared to more vanilla board games, however the excitement and possibilities that come with a board game like this are well worth the learning curve. I couldn't recommend doomtown more.Weiterlesen

Solid Game

Once you get past the learning curve this is a great game. It was similar in many respects to other card games with the exception of the movement component. For that reason it's noticeably more reliant on strategy and maneuvering with well matched decks rather than simply luck and the deck build. Also because it's a Expandable Card Game and not a Collectible Card Game it becomes both more affordable and more interesting in my opinion than the CCG genre. Every expansion has the same cards as every other, no random booster packs or rare/uncommon cards to worry about. This results in a game where deck-building strategy is pretty open and only limited by your willingness to work on your deck. You don't have to wait for a critical rare or uncommon card to come up for sale. After about a week of playing (about 4-5 times) I started to scratch the surface of the nuance in strategy so the learning curve for me wasn't too bad. In addition to the gameplay AEG puts out a pretty compelling story and the new releases follow a theme that generally involves parts of the ongoing storyline. It's pretty captivating for some players. Old West, Poker, Shootouts, what's not to like? If you are interested you can check out sites like Gomorrah Gazette and dtdb.co to learn more.
