???? Makes learning fun
This is a great learning device for general knowledge of world geography plus the wonders of the world. There is a lot of info here with 195 wonders to be learnt. Each wonder comes on a card with a photo on one side, and three factoids on the back plus a location. There is also a map included with a number key so you can see where in the world all the wonders are. There is a lot of info here which is good for general knowledge quizzes. The actual game itself is maybe not made to the best it can be (although, as with any game, you can adapt the game to suit you and yours). The board could have been better with the world map maybe being used more, and a better storage system, or pile system, for cards won. And, as other reviewers have mentioned, the picking of "wonders" is a bit subjective so there may be some worthy contenders missing, and some less-worthy contenders that have made the cut. The scoring at least recognises that some of the wonders will be hard to know and gives a bit of leeway with guessing the wonders correctly which is good for children. The 8+ rating is probably more to do with the fact that younger children will have not picked up as much knowledge of the wonders of the world than anything to do with small parts or anything like that. Our five-year-old has been joining in anyway, teaming up with an adult to play. Despite the game's faults we have had great fun with the game and love it. It makes learning fun and with 195 cards there is plenty here to learn before we exhaust it. Weiterlesen

Very educational, beautiful pictures
This is a really lovely game. Good quality board and cards. Amazing photographs of wonders of the world. We played it with 7 year old and 10 year old. They have both enjoyed playing, although most of the wonders are very hard to guess. We have encouraged them to guess on which continent they think it is and still given them the points. As a family, we have already learned a lot of wonders after a couple of games. Very much recommended. Weiterlesen

Good concept, but pretty disappointing
Bought this for our 9 year old - I thought he could pick up some good knowledge whilst having fun. We've only played it once so far but I have a feeling both child and Dad won't be too keen to play again. The concept is good, and there were a few wonders that our son recognised, but the majority he (and Dad) had no idea . If you don't know what it is , you can get 2 clues but in reality these are not often clues but more just extra information about them which mostly do not help identify it. After a few cards we changed the game a bit and said if he guessed the country he'd win the card. Amazingly he guessed a Polish one immediately. There are many more cards for Europe than other continents but for children this is probably no bad thing. I think if we keep playing it, he will learn many of the wonders and then it will just be a memory game, but until he knows enough it will be a case of making a wild guess as to the country. Perhaps it's the age rating that is not quite right. I just don't see how the majority of 8 year olds would recognise many of these wonders. Weiterlesen
