So much fun! This game can look intimidating when you first open it but the instructions are wonderful -- very clear with pictures to demonstrate the steps outlined. The best part of this game is that you're playing as a team against the game and you can play it with just two players. You play in two phases (planning phase and story phase). They even include instructions on how to play a shorter game your first time so you can become familiar with play. You definitely want to play with people who understand the rules. You may think it's not great for people with short attention spans but my ADD husband really enjoys it. Very glad we stumbled across this game! Weiterlesen

Programming game that has a unique feel and tells a story at the same time
I do not have a lot of experience with programming games, even though between the games in my closet and those I've traded/sold in the last year I've owned over 300 games. Thus are family are experienced games (in general), so the feedback comes through that lens and standard. SETUP AND EASE OF LEARNING: High learning curve for many. Not a gateway game (easy to play with non-gamers) in my opinion. For us veteran gamers, it was still slow learning how to play, which can really make or break the experience. Preferably, you do not want to be learning how to play this game when playing or it draws out the game into a long, slow process. Example of how this is a high learning curve, is One Stop Co-Op Shop needed four(4) Youtube videos (over 90-min total) just to show how to play this game. Yikes! Granted, you could treat this as a playthrough video, but it can be intense trying to learn to play the first time. Three more notes... 1. The rulebook could make or break this, but does a pretty good job of taking a person step-by-step through learning to play this game. 2. Even the publisher on a GenCon Youtube video admitted that setup alone could add an additional 30min to gameplay. Ouch! 3. Make sure you play the introductory scenario. This will help teach you the game and make it less painful to learn. FUN: For the best group experience you need at least 4 players (No 1-player option even though it seem like it should work AND we think it plays best with a full crew of characters) and you need someone who knows how to play to make it easier on the group to have a good time and not get too bogged down with the unique programmable style of play this is. Once you know how to play or have an experience player to hold the group's hand...we had a lot of fun in this story driven game. There aren't many story driven games, with being the most popular in the last year. So it is refreshing to have another story driven game on the market to choose from. REPLAYABILITY: Somewhat limited. Time Stories has one(1) story and it'll take you 2-4 times to succeed at the story and then you're done. This game offers several chapters/stories you can play through. . .thus you get more game for your buck in my opinion. You can replay each story/chapter in this one and the randomness of the cards offer replayability in how the story unfolds and actions to take, so there is some good replayability here. COST: For $42 at the time of this writing, four people could get a good 20-30hrs of play in one box (with replaying some of the stories). Cheaper than purchasing a couple of DVD/Blu Ray movies. Thus worth the dollars!! LUCK: The "end" success is in large part dependent how much Dread users could negate and how many dice were collected to increase their success role for the encounters. Especially the climatic battle at the end is relying on dice and some players may HATE that the entire end depends on successful dice role...and as we know dice are random! For me the randomness helped ratchet up the intensity. STRESS & COOPERATION: There are timers in this game, which builds the intensity and forces players to engage with the story. I like it! Also mentioned, since the final battle is based on the rolling of dice, it could increase the intensity of the game. Also this is a co-op game and while real-time activities going on, you have to work together to increase your team's success. I like co-op! OVERALL: A solid, co-op game that has the unique combination of programming, real-time timers and a merging of a story. Worth checking out. Weiterlesen

Victorian London calling....
In my opinion an attractive game, the components are good quality and the artwork is pretty good. It does come with a load of cards that does takes a little time to sort, but what game doesn't nowadays. It's a story driven game based in Victorian London, and it uses an app that is easy enough to download. The app isn't essential as you can use any type of timer but it certainly does add plenty of atmosphere to the first programming part of the game. The second part of the game is the resolution phase (I can't remember exactly what they call it), but it's pretty easy to play once you skim through the rules. All in all I was pretty impressed with London Dread and it's a good addition to my collection Weiterlesen
