Fun kids Kaiju game!

Look I’ll be honest I’m not sure how to rate a board game. They’re very subjective. However I’ll explain why I gave it 5 stars. I bought this game to play with my 6 year old. Yes I know the recommended age is 10. The very basic rules were easy enough for him to follow and the only real issues came from typical 6 year old behavior. He didn’t like losing monster battles and didn’t always understand the movement strategy. That being said, we were able to finish a game and he wants to play again so that’s a win in my book. Components seem high quality and make sense for mass market. Would I have liked 3D characters of course, but being able to get the game for less than $20 makes it much easier to take a chance on it. The gameplay would probably not challenge most adults but for a relatively quick set up and play time it would be a fun game to add to a casual board game night.Weiterlesen

The battles were great! Stomping the city just okay.

Simple, fast, and fun.

Simple, fast, and fun. I was really impressed with how much fun this very simple game was. The setup isn't too intense and it will only take you a few minutes to get through the rule book and play your first round. I'm a big fan of how the board is built of tiles and will thus be different for every game. The emphasis on destroying the city with battling the other monsters as an optional sort of side mission was nice as well. Missions and special abilities keep the game interesting and the very specific movement abilities make the game far more strategic than it would have been otherwise. If giant monsters destroying the town sounds like a fun premise to you then you'll love this simple but fun board game.Weiterlesen

Relatively Fast-Paced Family Game

This game has some elements that will seem familiar from other games, but it's pretty fun for what it is. Don't expect some deep strategy game. This is a fun relatively fast-paced family game. The theme has Kaiju monsters (think Godzilla) destroying a city. Each player controls a monster and tries to get points by destroying as much of the city as they can. You can also get points by completing certain challenges and by battling other players. Movement is sort of chess-like and battles are resolved sort of like paper-rock-scissors. It's a fun game, and it's not too complicated. There's enough variation that the game has decent replay value. All the components are cardboard or card-stock.Weiterlesen
