Let me just say right up front, the price of these cards is rutting ridiculous. With that being said, these are no flimsy pieces of gǒushǐ; they’re legitimate, hard-core, premium, playing cards, that any respectable professional player would be sore to part ways with and that will last you a long spell. BUT, you can get the qualitative equivalent for 10$. I took one reviewer’s advice and looked around for better prices; and I don’t know if these have gone out of production or if there’s been a lag, but as of now (let’s hope this changes), most everyone is reporting them “out of stock,” and if you do find them, the price is worse than here! Let’s be honest, Purchasing these at this price point is an act of sentiment when you could get something just as fine with far less coin. Haps brown coat sentimentalist’s or sympathizers, like yours truly, aren’t the only ones who will appreciate these though… if you haven’t a notion about firefly, but have an appreciation for art, the aesthetic appeal of these cards is truly transcending. Like the show, the artwork is a beautiful blend of futuristic flair, Chinese aura, and western culture while having a purposefully distressed design. Each one of these cards is a different kind of simple masterpiece from an artist standpoint. What I love about these cards is it doesn’t have the characters faces slapped on everyone of them… although there are definite references to the show and the characters in the art, it isn’t super overt and I love that! I feel like this is the card deck that the crew the serenity would play cards WITH on a long voyage through the black, more than something a sci-fi fan would have in their collection, and thats why I love them! This isn’t a card deck OF the show or ABOUT the show; this card deck is A PART of the show, and when you’re positioning your cards for solitaire or dealing out for the crew you’re a part of, given the right circumstance, you could feel like you’re someplace in the verse your own self.
